BEHIND THE SCENES: Shahid Kapoor's injured look as Maha Rawal Ratan Singh in Padmaavat is not to be missed

Shahid Kapoor is basking in the success of the much in the controversial film, Padmaavat. The film, which was mired in controversies, finally released on January 25 worldwide amid heavy security. While the protests and threats refuse to die down, the film and the actors received tremendous appreciation from fans and critics.

As the film is a period drama, it was a visually brilliant cinematic experience. Being a heavy costume drama, all the characters were dressed according to the era. Shahid Kapoor, who is essaying the role of Maha Rawal Ratan Singh of Chittor, had to work hard to get into the skin of the character of a Rajput King.

In the film, Shahid's character Maha Rawal Ratan Singh gets captured by Ranveer Singh's character Sultan Alauddin Khilji. The king is tortured by the Khilji men in the dungeon where was he was kept captive. In newly released photographs from the same scene, Shahid is seen getting ready for the shot. Covered in scars, injuries, and blood stained face, he is sporting long hair and beard in the photos while his makeup is being done.

On the work front, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat also stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. The film, which released on January 25 amid heavy security, has received a positive response from critics and the audience. Shahid has already begun preparations for Shree Narayan Singh’s directorial, Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
