The fourth day of the five-day fashion gala, Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 saw the former Miss Universe and Bollywood diva, Sushmita Sen turn show stopper for the label, Kotwara by Meera and Muzaffar Ali. With her signature million dollar smile, towering yet lithe frame and a rare sass, Sushmita Sen donned an exquisite creation from the designer duo’s Spring Summer 2018 collection. The duo who is known for their elegant creations inspired by traditions of Awadh presented their collection, Samanzar – A Garden of Flowers for Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. A befitting muse, Sushmita Sen reminisced her runway days and seemed to be enjoying her stint to the hilt. Giving the audiences an ample glimpse of her husna (read beauty) and doing the Umrao Jaan courtesy to the feted song, ‘Inn Ankhon Ki Masti Mein’, Sushmita Sen was greeted by whistles and hoots as she walked the runway. With the merging of traditional and contemporary sensibilities, Sama Ali, the daughter of the designers helmed this collection that featured exotic occasion wear with softly coloured pearls and sequins on arabesque forms.

With the usage of fabrics like muslin, sheer chiffons, velvet and brocade and embellishments like zardozi, aari, muqqaish and chikankari into silhouettes like the saree, sharara, flowing capes and shrugs, the palette of this collection was stark with whites contrasted against black and a subtle touch of vintage rose and gold.
