Revealed: The real life 'glamor girl' character in Indu Sarkar who was kept hidden from the media all this while

Ever since the explosive promo of Madhur Bhadarkar's Indu Sarkar was unveiled, conversations have veered towards characters being inspired by Indira Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi. While one waits to see how much of that is actually true, we have just caught hold of another interesting development which would make many stand up and notice the proceedings on screen.

Apparently, there is a character inspired by Rukhsana Sultana - who was supposedly Sanjay Gandhi's girlfriend - in the film. For the uninitiated, Rukhsana Sultana was actor Amrita Singh's mother. Popularly known as the 'glamour girl of Emergency', she apparently had a huge role to play during the emergency.

"Yes, her prime pre-occupation was propagating the cause of Sanjay Gandhi which was to motivate sterilization drives in Delhi's politically hypersensitive Muslim quarters in and around Jama Masjid," reveals our source. The character of Rukhsana Sultana is being played by actor Rashmi Jha.

When contacted, Rashmi said, "I don't know if the character is inspired by any person in reality. I was just given the script and I followed Madhur sir's vision."

Well, we wouldn't have expected to hear anything different! It would be interesting to see though how this character eventually plays on screen.
